Rik Peters


Rik Peters earned his BA in philosophy and classics and MA in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, as well as an MA in classics from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He taught courses on the philosophy of science, metaphysics and Foucault before coming to Chicago to pursue a joint PhD in classics and social thought in 2016. Main interests include ancient philosophy, ancient science, Hellenistic literature, paradoxography, the concept of ‘wonder’ in Greek thought, and philosophical texts of spurious and dubious authorship, like the Platonic Clitophon and Alcibiades, the Aristotelian De Mundo, Problemata and De Mirabilibus Auscultationibus, and the Pinax of Cebes.
