Rik Peters


Rik Peters earned his BA in philosophy and classics and MA in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, as well as an MA in classics from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He taught courses on the philosophy of science, metaphysics and Foucault before coming to Chicago to pursue a joint PhD in classics and social thought.
His main interests include the intellectual history of the Hellenistic period (including philosophy, science, and literature); attitudes towards wonder (θαῦμα) in Greek thought; imagery of the mind in Greek literature and thought (especially on the speed of thought); philology and textual criticism.
